Books on loan to you may be “recalled” back to the Library when they are requested by other borrowers. The loan period of recalled books will be shortened. However, the system provides for a minimum loan period of at least three weeks. In cases where a book is requested by two or more users, the loan period will be shortened to two weeks upon borrowing. Under extraordinary circumstances, such as re-cataloguing or transferring of materials to the course reserve collection, the Library itself may recall a borrowed book. There will be a higher fine for overdue recalled items.

For staff and students who have University e-mail accounts, the Library will send e-mail notices to inform you of the new due date of the recalled item. Please check your e-mail regularly. To ensure that you are notified, we will also send you recall notices by post no matter whether you have an e-mail account or not. The recalled materials will be regarded as overdue starting on the 22nd day after the issuance of the notice.
