In July 2017 the existing Library System, which has been in operation for over 20 years, will be replaced with a next-generation cloud-based system called Alma. This integrated system will be shared by all eight UGC (University Grants Committee) Libraries. Via the upgraded OneSearch interface, users will enjoy one-stop searches of HKBU Library collections and UGC Library collections with a number of enhanced features and functions. Further announcements will be made in the coming weeks to provide further information on the transition to the new system.
To enable a smooth migration to the new system, user services will necessarily be affected. These will include: Hold Requests, Renewals, HKALL, and borrowing using JULAC cards. All services are expected to return to normal when the system is successfully migrated in early July.
Please take note of the following important dates:
10 May 2017 (Wednesday)
All General books checked out on 10 May and after will be due on 30 September 2017.
All non-overdue books with 20-week loan period which are checked out before 10 May by patrons with valid expiry dates will be automatically extended to 30 September 2017.
5 June 2017 (Monday)
Last day to request HKALL books. Eligible users may use the Inter-Library Loan service instead.
Last day to request inter-branch book delivery (Book Paging) between HKBU Libraries.
All Hold Requests will be canceled. Please request the item again in the new system.
Last day for JULAC Card users to check out books in other JULAC Libraries.
