What kind of help can I get through Ask a Librarian?

  • Information on HKBU Library resources, services, and facilities
  • Recommendations on which library resources to use
  • Help with formulating search strategies
  • Help with simple and in-depth research questions (a longer response time may be required for in-depth questions, and a face-to-face research consultation may be arranged if necessary)

Who can use the service?

  • Ask a Librarian is intended primarily for the students, faculty, staff, and affiliates of the University.
  • For users from outside the HKBU community, only basic factual information or referral services can be provided.

When will I receive a response?

  • Enquiries will be acknowledged within 24 hours (except on Friday evenings, weekends, and public holidays), with most questions being answered at that time.
  • Enquiries involving in-depth research questions will be answered within 48 hours, and/or a face-to-face appointment may be arranged for a detailed discussion.

Who will respond to my enquiries?

  • Enquiries are handled by staff of the Library's Information Services Section. When appropriate, enquiries will be referred to the Section's professional librarians or to other Library colleagues.
