Online Tutorial to Assist in Research and Honours Projects

"Information Literacy Tutorials on Research Strategies"

The second library online tutorial is intended to assist Year-2 and Final-year students in completing research and honours projects.

By using four units of the tutorial on demand, you will learn how to tackle the following issues:

Troubleshoot unsatisfactory search results (Unit 1)
Evaluate Internet resources (Unit 1)
Avoid plagiarism (Unit 2)
Create references using a citation tool (Unit 2)
Use a mind map to narrow down your research topic (Unit 3)
Set up your research schedule and deadline (Unit 3)
Prepare your research log (Unit 3)
Become familiar with a variety of information resources (Unit 4)

The "Information Literacy Tutorials" is now available on WebCT at:
http://sams.hkbu.edu.hk/webtl/webct/webct_home.htm
You can also visit the homepage of "Library Online Tutorials" and access to the "Information Literacy Tutorials". The tutorial would be activated in WebCT accounts of Year-2 and Final-year students.

The tutorial will be updated and improved continuously. Therefore, you are welcome to forward your suggestions and comments to the Library.

Note: The tutorial is one of the components of a Teaching Development Grant project by the Library in collaboration with several faculty members and chaired by Dr. Alex Fung of Department of Education Studies.
