De-selecting AV Items in Obsolete Formats with No or Extremely Low Usage
The Library acquires and reviews its collections on an ongoing basis to ensure appropriate support for the teaching, learning, and research activities of the University community. In order to optimize the use of library space and to make room for new acquisitions, the Library is going to deselect a certain number of audio-visual (AV) materials that are in obsolete formats and with zero or extremely low usage as endorsed at the recent Library Committee meeting held in early June 2013.

You are most welcome to access the full de-selection list from this link (no authetication needed) or the Library Coordinators Portal (authetication needed), starting from today till September 30, 2013.

If individual departments are interested in some of the de-selected items, you are welcome to contact Ms Rebekah Wong (Assistant Librarian) for appropriate arrangement of transfer. Since it is on a first-come-first-served basis, only written requests from individual departments sent to on or before September 30, 2013 will be processed.

These are the formats that will be de-selected:

Sound Cassette Tapes (AVC)
Phono Records (AVE)
Open Reel Cassette (AVF)
Video Cassette Tapes (AVH)
Slide (AVL)
Transparency (AVN)
Game (AVP)
Chart (AVR)
Computer Disk (AVW)
Filmstrip (AVZ)
