For several years, the Library has subscribed to RILM Abstracts of Music Literature, and we are now trialing a new database from the same provider called RILM Music Encyclopedias. This resource is a full-text compilation of 41 influential music reference titles published since 1775. It comprises nearly 80,000 pages, the majority of which are not available anywhere else online. The content coverage includes important subjects such as popular music, opera, instruments, blues, gospel, recorded sound, and women composers, and it spans multiple countries and languages—English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, and Greek. The database is hosted on the EBSCOhost platform, which provides various advanced search options and tools for users.
Trial access will expire on 29 February, 2016.
