24-Hour Opening of Levels 2 and 3 of the Main Library

Following the re-opening of Level 2 to the public and the completion of the needed infrastructure, the Library is pleased to announce the re-introduction of a 24-hour study area. Thanks to enhancements made during the recent renovations, this area will be much larger than before, encompassing both Levels 2 and 3.

Details of the arrangements for the extended opening of this area are as follows:

  • Access to the 24-hour area will be through the Library main entrance on Level 3.

  • At the Library closing time, users will need to vacate Levels 4 through 7, however they will not need to exit and re-enter the Library as was the case with the old Library Learning Commons.

  • After the closing time, the gate on the staircase between Levels 3 and 4 will be closed, and the lift will only provide access to Levels 2 and 3.

  • For the safety of users, a security guard will be stationed at the main entrance throughout the extended opening period. Security guards will also periodically patrol the study areas.

  • The Library's User Behaviour Policy remains in effect during extended opening times. Please respect other Library users and refrain from engaging in undesirable behaviour.

24-hour opening of Levels 2 and 3 will commence on 1 Feb 2016 and will continue to the end of the 2nd semester examination period on 18 May 2016. The area will remain open on public holidays.
