Launch of Next-Generation Library System

The Library is pleased to announce that Alma, the new Shared Integrated Library System for the eight UGC-funded universities will be launched with effect from 18 July 2017. Users will enjoy a personalized one-stop platform that searches across all eight UGC Libraries, and a new user-friendly interface for My Library Account. Alongside the launch of the new system, the Library has enhanced its borrowing service by introducing a no fine policy for General books*, unlimited renewals, and an increased Hold Quota.

Below are additional details relating to the new system launch:

  1. Revised Loan Policy
  2. Revised Fine Policy
  3. All services previously suspended to accommodate the system migration, including HKALL, Hold requests, renewals, book transfers between HKBU Libraries, and JULAC Card users borrowing, have resumed.
  4. To view loan records and renew items borrowed directly from other libraries with a JULAC Card under their HKBU “My Library Account”, all JULAC Card holders need to create link records on their next visit to each of the other JULAC Libraries.
  5. Since passwords set in the old Library System are no longer valid, users without an HKBU SSOid (e.g. Graduates, certain categories of SCE staff / students) need to reset their My Library Account password. Users may also come in person to the Library Information Desk for assistance.
