The Telegraph Historical Archive (1855 - 2000)

The Telegraph was launched in 1855, and by 1876, it was the largest-selling newspaper in the world, with a circulation of 300,000.

The Telegraph gained its reputation as a pioneering yet reliable source of news reporting (e.g. the publication of a cryptic crossword puzzle responsible for recruiting Allied codebreakers during WWII), and has also been at the forefront of journalistic innovation (e.g. the first British newspaper to launch a website in 1994).

This archive provides over 1 million pages of content and includes the Sunday edition from its inception in 1961.
