The Library’s Think Tanks are primarily used for library workshops and events. They provide flexible furniture, and can either be used separately or combined into one larger space.
Think Tanks are available for reservation by teaching and administrative staff for learning activities if they are not scheduled for library workshops or events.

Eligible Users
Think Tanks can be reserved by HKBU/SCE teaching or administrative staff.
Booking Guidelines
- Think Tanks should be used for learning events/ activities. The suggested maximum room capacity for Think Tank 1 & 2 is 10 and 6 respectively.
- Bookings should be done online. For booking procedures, please click HERE.
- Bookings can be made 1 month in advance.
- Each user is eligible to book the rooms for up to 3 hours per session, once per day and a maximum of 3 times per week.
- Bookings are NOT transferable.
Using a Combined Room
- Think Tank 1 & 2 are two separate rooms by default. For booking procedures, please click HERE.
- Please note that requests can be entertained only if both Think Tank 1 & 2 are available during the booking period.
- Users are advised to account for the time required to set up the venue, including any rearrangement of furniture, which should be done by users themselves. Operable walls are managed by SMCL staff and typically requires an additional 15–20 minutes. Please ensure that sufficient time is reserved for all required setup activities.
Equipment
One PC for instruction is installed in each room.
Check In / Check Out
- Users who have booked the rooms must present their HKBU ID Cards when claiming the room at the User Services counter. At least one staff should be present in the room during the booked time slot. After use, users are required to check out at the User Services counter.
- Rooms not claimed in within 15 minutes from the start of the session will be released to other users, and the booking will be counted against the booking quota.
Cancellations
- Cancellation of bookings can be done online by users before the start of the session.
- If users need to cancel bookings, they should do so early in order to release the room to others.
Conduct of Users
- Users should keep the rooms neat and tidy, and return the room to its original state.
- Take good care of all computing and AV equipment.
- Users are advised to communicate with Library staff for venue settings prior to the booking if needed. No furniture should be moved in/out to/from the rooms without prior approval.
- Valuables should not be left unattended in the room. Under no circumstances shall the Library be held responsible for any loss or damage to personal items.
- Unattended items left after your reservation period may be removed by library staff without prior notice.
- Users are required to observe the Library regulations in addition to the above terms.

Although the Library will make every reasonable effort to ensure the integrity of computers and software in its venues, the responsibility to check if all materials or files can be properly displayed/played/used on the computers is the user’s. Please do so prior to booking library venues.
