Online Accessibility

The HTML5 standard has been applied to the Library website, and it can be accessed by any browser that complies with the standard. There may be differences across browsers, devices, and operating systems. For best viewing, the latest version of Google Chrome is recommended.

The website conforms to the internationally-recognised World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA standard. This means that it meets both basic and advanced accessibility standards and can be used by most people with special needs. If you have comments on the accessibility of the website or if you are unable to access any of the Library’s online resources due to your special needs, please contact us using Ask a Librarian.

To further ensure that the Library website is accessible to all users, the Library submitted it for review in the 2020-2021 edition of the Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme co-organized by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer. The Library website received a Gold Award, indicating that it met all 24 judging criteria. As the website develops, the Library will ensure that it remains in compliance with international accessibility standards.

Physical Accessibility

The Library is committed to providing services and facilities to accommodate the needs of users with disabilities. We work closely with other units on campus (e.g. the Office of Student Affairs) to create an accessible environment based on equal opportunity. Please refer to the pages on our special user need services at Main Library and Chinese Medicine Library, and the Shek Mun Campus Library for more details.
