Renovation of Main Library entrance and alternative access arrangements
(4 November – 13 December 2020)

As part of the improvement works to Li Promenade, the entrance of the Main Library will undergo renovation.

To minimise inconvenience to patrons as much as possible, the Estates Office has arranged for this work to take place on Fridays and weekends.

Below are the dates on which the Main Library entrance will be closed:

  • 7 Nov (Sat) – 8 Nov (Sun)
  • 13 Nov (Fri) – 15 Nov (Sun)
  • 20 Nov (Fri) – 22 Nov (Sun)
  • 27 Nov (Fri) – 29 Nov (Sun)
  • 11 Dec (Fri) – 13 Dec (Sun)

Alternative access arrangements

On those dates when the main entrance is closed, access to the Main Library will be through the fire exit on Li Promenade. Please refer to the image below for details of the entrance and exit flows. Directional signage will be provided. 

Security guards will inspect library cards at the temporary station near the Information Desk. Please follow the instructions of library staff and security guards on site.

Noisy works

Works relating to the renovation will begin on 4 Nov (Wed), and will involve demolition works. Although these will be restricted to non-peak hours as much as possible, some disturbance will be unavoidable.

Alternative Access Arrangements for the Main Library
