The Library is a shared learning space primarily dedicated to study and research. To keep our spaces comfortable and productive for everyone, short naps are allowed only in the Resting Zone on Level 2 and are not permitted elsewhere in the Library.

We recognise that health and wellbeing are important to academic success. The Resting Zone is intended for short breaks, and users are encouraged to return to their personal accommodation for longer rest periods (i.e. over 60 minutes).

Welfare checks

For safety and wellbeing, Library staff and duty security guards may carry out welfare checks when someone appears to be asleep outside the Resting Zone or when a user seems to have exceeded the time limit in the Resting Zone. These checks will be conducted respectfully and may include quiet observation and, if needed, a gentle attempt to wake the person to confirm they are well.

We ask all users to observe the guidelines below so that the space remains comfortable, hygienic, and welcoming for everyone.
