Seen to be believed: The power of propaganda posters

There is so much to discover across the Library’s poster collection, especially propaganda posters. This selection from socialist countries, including the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, North Korea, Cuba, and East Germany, shows how effectively these regimes disseminated and strengthened political ideology through
images and slogans. The vibrant and daring designs bring out clearly defined themes such as revolution, power of the workers, soldiers in action, devotion to the state, and anti-Americanism. In particular, the North Korean posters focus on military might and garnering support for the state; and while the October
Revolution is a major topic for the Russian posters, a few promote peace and disarmament.
