The University Library recognizes the ongoing challenges faced by the HKBU community at this time. Library staff are working to provide the best support possible to our students, faculty, and colleagues.
We would like to ensure that all of our stakeholders are aware of the following:
- Library e-resources: Over the past two decades, the Library has invested considerable resources into its electronic collections. Apart from searching in OneSearch, consider browsing our complete A-Z list of databases: https://hkbu.libguides.com/az.php
- Free e-resources: We have also been taking advantage of offers by e-resource vendors to provide even better access to materials not normally accessible through our subscriptions. A dedicated guide to these is available: https://hkbu.libguides.com/free-e-resources
- E-book purchases: To facilitate access, faculty may request the Library to purchase the ebook version of book titles even if the Library already has them in print. Contact your liaison librarian to make a request: https://library.hkbu.edu.hk/about-us/contact-information/liaisons/
- Service hours: Beginning 4 May (Monday) the hours of the Main Library will be extended and the branch libraries will reopen. Limited counter services will be provided on request. Refer to the announcement for details: https://library.hkbu.edu.hk/happenings/news/changes-to-library-service-arrangements-effective-4-may/
- Research help: Although only limited in-person services are currently provided, librarians are available every working day to provide quick responses to research enquiries via Zoom, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and e-mail. Service details are on the Library website: https://library.hkbu.edu.hk/get-help/ask-a-librarian/
- Access to Adobe Creative Cloud for HKBU UGC-funded students: Based on the Library’s subscription to this software, our UGC-funded students are able to apply for home access until 31 May 2020. See here for details: https://library.hkbu.edu.hk/happenings/news/home-access-to-adobe-creative-cloud/
- 3D Printing Service: The Main Library continues to provide a 3D printing service. Please refer to the Library website for service details and to make your requests: https://library.hkbu.edu.hk/using-the-library/facilities/3d-printing-service/
