Gale Primary Sources

The Library has acquired three additional collections from Gale Primary Sources:

 

State Papers Online Colonial: Asia, Part I: Far East, Hong Kong, and Wei-Hai-Wei

State Papers Online Colonial is a digitisation programme of the Colonial Office files of the British Government, now housed at The National Archives, Kew, United Kingdom. These documents record Britain’s administration and governance of countries under Britain’s colonial rule, their international relations across the period, and the changing demographics and daily life of their inhabitants.

 

China and the Modern World: Hong Kong, Britain, and China Part II: 1965-1993

A collection of miscellaneous papers and reports from the British legation and consulates in China. Digitized from documents held at the UK National Archives, it comprises a catalogue of embassy archives, 1727 to 1859; trade and intelligence reports; records of legal proceedings; miscellaneous papers, some in Chinese, of the Chinese Secretary’s Office; an entry book of papers relating to the East India Company in China; claims arising from Sino-Japanese hostilities, 1927 to 1940; accounts; circulars, etc.

 

British Library newspapers Part III: 1741–1950

British Library Newspapers is a joint effort by the British Library and Gale to make available digitized versions of important 19th century British newspapers. Parts I, II and III include 240 newspaper titles totaling over 6.4 million pages.
