20 Nov 2019

The information in this announcement supersedes that provided in our earlier announcement of 17 November.

The following special arrangements will be made in view of the extended and unplanned closure of the libraries between 11 and 20 November:

1. Lending Services

Late return of borrowed items

No overdue fines will be charged on all items (including recalled items) that were due to be returned during the period of Library closure*. Please return borrowed items by 26 November.

If you are not able to return your items within this period, contact the Library via email (libcir@hkbu.edu.hk) and provide us with your HKBU ID number, titles of the library items, and reason for the request.

Interlibrary Loan – Possible delayed service delivery

For interlibrary loan requests to UGC Libraries, the expected delivery time to fulfill the request may be longer than usual.

Pickup due date for reserved materials:

Items* that were held for collection during the period of extended Library closure will be held until 29 November. Please come to collect your reserved items before then.

*This applies to all library materials, including HKBU, HKALL, ILL and the Course Reading collection.

2.Research Help

Given the suspension of face-to-face teaching and the shift to online learning, the Library would like to remind users that research help is available from the Library via the following online channels:

Additionally, librarians of the Information Services Section will be offering virtual research consultations via Skype to further support online learning. To request an online meeting, indicate your preference when completing our research consultation request form.

In-person research help will continue to be offered at the Main Library Information Desk during the Library’s opening hours.
